Secretary, Board of Trustees ( BOT ), of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ), Senator Walid Jibrin has described as embarrassing the inability of the North East zone to present any candidate for the national chairmanship of the party.
He also said that members of the board will not allow the personal ambition of anybody to destroy the good name of the party, moreso that the party is doing all it can to reposition itself ahead of 2019.
He added that impunity and self centredness must be expunged from the party if it was to reclaim leadership of the nation in 2019.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna yesterday, Walid said based on the crisis occasioned by the inability of the northeast to present a candidate for the contested position it had become imperative for the BOT to hold an emergency meeting on the February, 8, 2016 to review the situation.
“It is very disappointing and embarrassing that the northeast zone cannot present any person for the national chairmanship of the party to replace Alhaji Adamu Mu’ azu who has since resigned even, if it is for one day.
“We shall not allow anybody or group of people with personal ambition to destroy the party.
“We must realise that we are now in opposition having ruled the country for 16 years. We must therefore exhibit effective and objective opposition.
“The constitution of the party must always be followed strictly and any ‘culprit’ must be disciplined no matter how highly placed”.
